Exergy Solutions Inc. is an engineering consultant offering end-to-end, fit-for-purpose lab-scale and pilot-scale equipment for research and innovation. We have been operating in Calgary since 2013 and opened our X-Lab in 2019, offering state-of-the-art industrial 3D printers and post-processing solutions, as well as a wireless augmented and virtual reality studio. We work with clients in a variety of sectors including energy, utilities, healthcare, education and manufacturing.

Our Leadership Team
Billy Rideout, P.Eng
Billy co-founded Exergy Solutions in 2015 and serves as president. He leads Exergy’s leadership team, guiding strategy, business development and operations. Prior Exergy, Billy held several leadership roles at Suncor Energy where he advanced new technology development for in-situ oil sands projects, as well as process innovations for safety management. Billy holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Co-founder & Director, Business Operations
Vicky co-founded Exergy Solutions in 2015. In her current role, she oversees administrative functions, financial systems, human resources, project management applications, work processes implementation, as well as health and safety programs. Prior to her role at Exergy, Vicky was a speech-language pathologist for more than 17 years and served as the president for a not-for-profit francophone preschool organization. Vicky holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Alberta.
Chief Operating Officer
Fiona joined Exergy Solutions in 2020 and is responsible for day-to-day business operations. Prior to joining Exergy she was Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Rangeland Engineering and Vice President of Business Development at Jacobs. Most recently, she has provided business consulting services to engineering, procurement and construction companies in Alberta. Fiona is originally from Ireland, has lived and worked in four countries throughout her career and has experience in the energy, mining, petrochemical, power, and infrastructure sectors. She has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Dundee in Scotland.
George Katsimihas, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
George is responsible for the overall leadership of the finance, accounting and administration functions at Exergy. George has more than 20 years of finance, accounting, treasury and audit experience and he also has experience with scaling-up finance operations and enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations. Prior to joining Exergy in December 2020, George served in progressively more senior finance and leadership roles at Murphy Oil, Statoil, Pace Oil & Gas and Deloitte. George holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and received his Chartered Accountant Designation in 2002. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
VP, Clean Technology & Innovation
Matt McCulloch joined Exergy in early 2021 as VP clean technology & innovation. Prior to joining Exergy, Matt was the director of the Greenhouse Gas Environmental Priority Area of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), supporting the oil sands industry alliance members in accelerating the pace of environmental technology innovation through collaboration. Matt also led the consulting activities of the Pembina Institute. He is a Clean Resource Innovation Network theme lead, board member of Foresight Canada, and chair of the board for the Academy for Sustainable Innovation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Queens University and is a Fellow of the Energy Futures Lab.
David Waldbillig, PhD, MSc
Director, Advanced Manufacturing
Dave joined Exergy Solutions in 2020 as director of advanced manufacturing where he oversees strategy and business development for all aspects of the company’s additive and advanced manufacturing efforts. Dave has more than fifteen years of experience leading materials and coatings research and development projects from initial concept through full-scale manufacturing and commercialization. Most recently he worked in a senior research and business development role as Principal Engineer at Canadian technology company Quantiam Technologies. Dave holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Materials Engineering from the University of Alberta and a PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
Digital Solutions Manager
Scott joined Exergy Solutions in 2017 as digital solutions manger. He oversees all facets of information technology including the implementation of advanced digital technologies for Exergy’s clients, as well as public relations. Scott has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector, where he specialized in 3D laser scanning, virtual reality, augmented reality and CAD systems administration. He most recently held pipeline design and systems administration positions for Aximus Engineering, Keywest Projects and Worley Parsons. Scott completed both Business Administration and Broadcasting Communications programs at Mount Royal University and has a Process Piping Design certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Tanner Ball, P. Eng
Tanner joined Exergy Solutions in 2018 as operations manager where he is responsible for leading projects focused on research and development initiatives. He oversees design, fabrication, construction and operation of lab and field pilots with the goal of developing new products and processes that will improve industry production, reliability, and environmental performance. Tanner has worked in the energy sector for more than 15 years in a variety of industries including mining, extraction, upgrading, tailings and in-situ operations. Most recently he worked for Suncor Energy in project and technology development. Tanner holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree – Mechanical from Carleton University and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
