Imagine a world where industry giants unite to tackle their common challenges. That’s exactly what Exergy set to accomplish with the groundbreaking Canadian Carbon Capture Collaboration (C4).
Working with our partners, Exergy established a leading edge made-in-Canada multi-sectoral industry initiative to evaluate 25+ carbon capture technologies and develop consolidated knowledge on behalf of our clients in power generation, resource extraction, fertilizer production, petrochemicals, pipelines, and steelmaking. Spanning three phases, the C4 initiative encompassed a comprehensive range of activities – from technology landscaping and screening to quantitative modelling to the development of cost reduction best practices.
As the technical lead of the collaboration, Exergy delivered critical analysis, including:
- Process modelling of select carbon capture technologies under two different flue gas conditions, simulating deployment at industrial facilities.
- Cost estimating and technoeconomic analysis of these scenarios – Class V estimate with sensitivity analysis to understand key drivers.
- Engagement with stakeholders in the field to gather lessons learned related to project development and execution.
C4 participants acquired first-of-a-kind insight into the comparative costs of carbon capture technologies, evaluated on a consistent basis. They were also able to narrow down the options best suited to their specific assets. As the collaboration evolved, C4 expanded its focus beyond carbon capture, with Exergy delivering valuable analysis on hydrogen fuel switching and electrification, further supporting strategic decision-making for decarbonization.
At Exergy, we don’t just consult – we catalyze transformative change on a global scale. Ready to join the frontline of the clean energy revolution? Let’s innovate together.
