Shaping Canada's Green Future: Technical Advisor to Canada Growth Fund

When Canada Growth Fund sought carbon capture technology expertise for their game-changing investments in the Canadian cleantech landscape, they turned to Exergy.

Exergy advised the Canada Growth Fund (CGF, https://www.cgf-fcc.ca) on a strategic $200 million investment in Entropy Inc, a Calgary-based developer of technologically advanced carbon capture and sequestration (“CCS”) projects. Exergy provided technical review of the Glacier carbon capture asset coupled with a comparative analysis of Entropy’s solvent-based technology. Exergy was privileged to work with the CGF team on this transaction leveraging our in-depth expertise in the carbon capture technology space to inform decision-making that is shaping Canada’s future.

Glacier is Entropy’s flagship CCS facility which has been operational since 2022. Exergy delivered this due diligence in collaboration with our peers at Sproule who brought the sub-surface expertise and rigour, while Exergy focused on the technology review. Our expert team worked prudently under a compressed timeframe to synthesize valuable insight and meet CGF’s objectives.

“CGF asked us tough questions. Exergy delivered answers. We brought our expertise to bear on this collaboration, yielding informative outcomes. We believe this work evidently informed the investment transaction and hope it equips CGF with the foundational knowledge they need to take their partnership with Entropy to successful frontiers.” – Nermine Sorial, Senior Director, Advisory & Engineering Services

Since then, CGF has engaged Exergy to provide additional advisory support leading up to their decision to invest in Svante, a solid sorbent technology provider. Staying true to our agile approach, we delivered laser focused technical due diligence tailored to meet our client’s needs.
